Balista is a curious name for a horse. Ballista would make (a bit) more sense. I have seen both spellings at large on the web. Can somebody check which is actually correct?

Also, is Michael Winter the actual rider or just a namesake.

I have looked at a few more of the links, it is obvious that nobody has checked them!
